All guests should be competent in backcountry travel and completely self-sufficient. All guests should be equipped with proper emergency gear/supplies and knowledge of the ski, snowshoe, or hiking routes they intend on using. You are solely responsible for your own safety. We do not issue refunds if guests are unable to reach the hut due to unforeseen circumstances. It is rugged mountain terrain, prepare and travel accordingly. In winter, guests must be capable of backcountry navigation, breaking trail in deep snow conditions, avalanche assessment and mitigation, hazard avoidance, and more.
Avalanche Danger Cancellation Policy:
Note that the Kees and Claire Hut is located in an area where the Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale (ATES) is rated as Challenging Terrain. The winter route is NOT marked, and you are responsible for your route-finding and navigating. Do not assume a route or tracks will show you the way to the hut, or show you the safest route of access.
If Avalanche Canada publishes a bulletin with a danger rating of HIGH or EXTREME on the days you are to be at the hut, Spearhead Huts Society will provide a full refund if you wish to cancel.
If you wish to cancel due to Avalanche Canada danger ratings, your cancellation request must be made by 11:59 PM the night BEFORE you are scheduled to travel. (e.g. Your booking is scheduled for April 15th, submission for cancellation must be made before 11:59 PM on April 14th)
