Terms and Conditions

Important Understandings:

  1. I understand that my group and I is responsible for packing out all of our garbage and our belongings. All items we take into the hut MUST be taken out by out group.

  2. My group and I understand that no open flames are allowed in or near the Huts.

  3. My group and I understand that travel to and from the huts takes place in uncontrolled backcountry mountain terrain and there are many hazards that could exist on the route including severe weather, cliffs, steep slopes, crevasses, trees, rocks, wildlife, etc. These hazards may cause injury or death to myself or members of my group.

  4. My group and I understand that travel over snow to, from, or in the vicinity of the huts requires traversing areas with potential avalanche hazards. My group and I are wholly and solely responsible for assessing avalanche risks and any decisions that we make when traveling to and from the huts.

  5. My group and I understand that routes to the huts are unmarked except for designated summer trails and that my group and I are wholly and solely responsible for obtaining route information and our own route finding to and from the huts. We also understand that weather may change rapidly in uncontrolled mountain backcountry terrain and we will be self-supporting and able to self-rescue should it be needed.

  6. In the event that you or members of your party do not arrive at the hut for a confirmed reservation, the Spearhead Huts Society will not contact search and rescue on your behalf or communicate with your emergency contacts about the fact you have not arrived at the hut.

  7. I understand that my group and I are wholly and solely responsible for providing all food and bedding (sleeping bags) for my group at the huts.

  8. My group and I understand that we will abide by the rules and best practices in respecting the other guests at the hut and their use of the facilities. That we will follow the Custodians' directions as required and leave the hut in "better shape than when we arrived" as a matter of principle for the outdoor community of users at the hut.

  9. Infectious disease such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi may be transmitted through direct or indirect contact. You understand that the SHS cannot guarantee your safety as a result.

  10. I understand that it is my responsibility to communicate all the above conditions of reservation to my group and that if anyone in my group is not comfortable with any of these conditions, risks and responsibilities, that they will not participate in the trip or travel to the huts.
