The Kees and Claire Hut at Russet Lake – the first stop in the Spearhead Traverse – is open and welcoming visitors. We are actively fundraising for the Macbeth Hut, the most remote and furthest from Whistler Village. We have started the architectural, engineering and construction planning work and we need your support in order to start laying concrete foundations on the site in 2025.
Volunteer
The Spearhead Huts Society (SHS) seeks volunteer hut custodians to assist with day-to-day operations of the Kees and Claire Hut in Garibaldi Provincial Park. The Kees and Claire Hut is open from June 21 to October 21 for the summer season. Join a team of 25-35 people who are committed to help maintain this beautiful hut in the mountains.
Primary Partners
Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation
Thanks to the extremely generous and substantial donation from the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation, the first hut at the Russet Lake location will now be a reality. The hut will be named the Kees and Claire Hut in honour of Kees Brenninkmeyer and Claire Dixon whose unfortunate passing during a Wapta ski traverse trip in 2006 inspired a revival of the Spearhead Huts Project.
We are actively seeking primary naming rights donors for the third hut in the system, located at Mount Pattison.
Brian Hill and Andrea Thomas Hill
We are thrilled and grateful to announce that a $1.5 million donation from Vancouver philanthropists will fund the construction of the second hut in the Spearhead Huts System located at Mt Macbeth. Brian Hill, CEO and founder of Vancouver-based retail clothing chain, Aritzia, and Andrea Thomas Hill, chair of the Cause We Care Foundation, committed the gift to show their support for the innovative project.
