Macbeth Hut construction starts August 2026

Dear friends of the Spearhead Huts Society,

We are delighted to announce that BC Parks has approved the design of the Macbeth Hut and permitted construction to start in Summer 2026.

This milestone reflects the generosity of major donors, the continued support of our community, and the relationships we are grateful to hold with the Squamish Nation and the Lil’wat Nation, on whose traditional territories this backcountry hut system is being developed.

Our plan is to establish the building foundation between August and October 2026. Completion of the build is expected in late fall 2027 with the first ski touring parties being welcomed at the Macbeth Hut in January 2028. While we work with BC Parks on the feasibility of a summer trail link to the Kees and Claire Hut, this new backcountry hut will operate in winter only and be closed during the summer season.

As the Kees and Claire Hut goes into its seventh year operating, we’re excited about the next leg of the journey at Macbeth.
